According to the Energy Information Administration, national fuel prices are on an upward trend. “Iowa’s average fuel prices have followed national trends, taking a dip in December and rebounding this first half of January, but we’re still below the national average,” said Kerri Johannsen, Data Analyst for the Iowa Office of Energy Independence. “Iowa and the U.S. as a whole have recently seen an increase in fuel demand due to cold weather. This increase in demand, combined with positive signs of economic recovery, is driving up fuel prices.”
